By day I'm a technology incident management expert for a large insurer. At night and on weekends I'm a full-time photographer.
Understanding how to make a photo tell a story is the first key to success as a photographer. This means understanding what you or your client wants to say, understanding how to say it, and understanding who the photo is meant to speak to.
Understanding how light, lens, camera (digital or film) all mix together to tell that story is secondary, but absolutely necessary.
The first, story-telling is much harder to learn. The second, the science, is easier to learn, but not easy to learn. Being able to tie both together to produce exceptional photographs is what I do best.
I do all my own photographing and editing. These two activities comprise 95% of making a photograph. Spending time setting the stage for the initial image is as important as the time I spend in the (digital) darkroom editing each photograph.
I rely on expert printers to make the finest final product possible, and save you money.
